An impaired driver has been jailed after fleeing Edmonson County deputies and crashing near the Grayson County line.

The Edmonson County Sheriff’s Office arrested 68-year-old Ronald Johnson and charged him with first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer, first-degree wanton endangerment, DUI, fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), first-degree criminal mischief, and reckless driving.

The arrest came as deputies were responding to a reckless driving complaint, according to a report by WNKY.com. As police made contact with the Johnson’s vehicle, he fled deputies with speeds reaching 80 miles per hour as the suspect then began driving in the opposite lane of travel.

As the fleeing vehicle neared the Grayson County line, Johnson crashed into a truck that was exiting a driveway.

Once in custody, Johnson admitted he had taken “multiple drugs,” WNKY.com reports.

He was transported to The Medical Center at Bowling Green before being lodged in the Hart County Jail on a $10,000 cash bond.
