The Leitchfield Police Department is investigating a social media threat to a Grayson County High School.

On Wednesday evening at approximately 5:45, Grayson County Schools texted the following statement to parents/guardians of Grayson County High School students:

“GCHS has been made aware of social media threat toward a ‘Grayson County High School.’ Although it is not clear that it is Grayson County High School in Leitchfield, KY we are working closely with law enforcement as they investigate. The school will be increasing security starting tomorrow morning. We take all threats very seriously and will update our community as more information becomes available. The safety of GCHS students is always our number one priority. If you have additional information please contact Leitchfield PD or (Principal) Lacy Cox at GCHS.”

Essentially the same text was distributed again at 6:26 Wednesday evening.

Leitchfield PD Det. Sgt. Ian Renfrow is leading the investigation.

It appears the threat was posted on Snapchat. The threat (see below) states: “This is not a drill. I will be shooting up grayson county high on September 18 with multiple ar15s and multiple hand guns. Nah who tf is this fr” followed by a picture of a skull.

As K105 reported Tuesday evening, between Sunday and Tuesday, threats were made against Marion County High School (twice), T.K. Stone Middle School in Elizabethtown, Glasgow High School, and Hopkinsville High School.

Four juveniles have been charged in the incidents, with each juvenile facing felony terroristic threatening charges. At least three of the juveniles were transported to juvenile detention facilities.

K105 will have more information on this story as it becomes available.
