A flat tire led to a large vehicle fire on Brandenburg Road.
Thursday evening at approximately 7:00, the Leitchfield Fire Department and Grayson County Deputy Sean Fentress were dispatched to the 5000 block of Brandenburg Road on the report of a vehicle on fire in the middle of the northbound lane.
As first responders were en route, Central Dispatch reported that the car had a full tank of gas. Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters found a Pontiac Firebird nearly fully engulfed in flames. The male occupant was out of the vehicle and uninjured.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze before flames spread to the gas tank.
A family member told K105 that a tire blew out as the driver was almost home. The driver attempted to make it to his residence in the vehicle but apparently sparks from the rim/concrete contact started a fire.
Leitchfield FD and Fentress cleared the scene at approximately 7:40.
Deputy Jordan Jones briefly assisted at the scene.
