At least 2 tornadoes touch down in Kentucky on Tuesday

At least two tornadoes touched down in Kentucky during Tuesday’s round of thunderstorms as remnants of Hurricane/Tropical Storm Beryl moved through the state..

The National Weather Service said an EF-O twister touched down in Cumberland and Metcalfe counties while an EF-1 tornado touched down in Union County.

The Cumberland/Metcalfe tornado touched down at approximately 2:00 Tuesday afternoon and packed peak winds of 85 miles per hour, according to the NWS. The tornado was on the ground for about a mile and was 200 yards wide.

Damage from the twister was limited to downed trees and utility lines.

The EF-1 tornado in Union County had a top wind speed of 105 miles per hour. There was limited residential damage along with downed trees, according to a report by WFIE.com.

NWS storm assessors continue to survey storm damage.
