Three Elizabethtown men charged with the murder of an elderly Hart County man in 2022 have pled guilty.

The murder occurred Friday night, July 29, 2022, just before 6:00 at a residence in the 10070 block of Hammonsville Road in Hart County. Kentucky State Police, upon responding to a report of a deceased male in the yard at that address, located 78-year-old Robert W. Myers, who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

He was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Hart County Coroner’s Office.

State police said Myers was shot after he confronted three men who were stealing items from a residence he owned. The suspects were spotted leaving the scene in a U-Haul truck traveling north on Hammonsville Road.

State police said that on the day after the murder, the U-Haul truck was found, with troopers arresting 23-year-old Cecil Daniels and 33-year-old Brandon M. Hodge and charging each with Myers’ murder. Dale Hodge, 67, was later arrested and also charged with Myers’ murder.

This week, according to The News-Enterprise, Daniels pled guilty to complicity to commit murder and complicity to first-degree burglary. He was sentenced to 25 years in prison. Brandon Hodge and Dale Hodge pled guilty to criminal facilitation to commit murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree burglary. They were both sentenced to 10 years.
