Mary Lou Hayes (Kiper), age 64, of Millwood, Ky, passed away Saturday June 15, 2024, at Morgantown Care and Rehab.
She was born March 11, 1960, in Clarkson, Ky, the daughter of the late Hazel and Edward Kiper.
Prior to her decline in health, she worked as a quality assurance inspector at Plastikon. She was a hard worker who never met a stranger. She loved the outdoors. Whether it was working in her flowers, tending a summer garden, or identifying and picking wild mushrooms to eat, she was always outside enjoying nature. Her favorite place in the world was the beach. She loved the ocean, the sand, and the sun. Her joy and love in life was her family. She always had food on the stove and a pitcher of sweet tea ready for whoever walked through the door. Her grandkids were her everything, and she loved them fiercely. She was a member of McGrew General Baptist Church.
She is survived by three children: Denisha Alexander (Vernon) of Caneyville, Aj Hayes and Bradley Hayes both of Millwood; Seven grandchildren: Aayden, Dani, Jackson, Maddie, Morgen, Easton, and Emmitt; Three sisters: Ruby Kiper (Kenny) of Harrisburg, IL, Vickie Brooks (John) of Morgantown, Ky, and Nedra Kiper; Several nieces, nephews, and close friends; Two special “daughters” Keri Embrey and Brittany Taylor; A special friend of many years, Tom Meredith of Leitchfield, Ky.
Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her uncle, Jack Kennison who she looked after for many years.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, (June 22, 2024) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Jacob McClure will be officiating. Burial will be in the Kefauver Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday and from 9:00 a.m. Saturday until time of services.
