Kentucky Fish & Wildlife officials are investigating after a man drowned at Green River Lake State Park in Taylor County.

Campbellsville Fire & Rescue was dispatched Sunday evening at approximately 6:00 to a “person in distress in the water,” the agency said in a social media post.

Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters found that an “approximately 69-year-old male was missing in the water and his vehicle was in the water also,” officials said.

Three divers then entered the water and located the deceased male at 7:00 p.m. about 110 feet from the ramp and in water about 15 feet deep. The victim’s name has not been released.

First-responders recovered the decedent’s vehicle from the water, as well. It’s unclear how the man and his car ended up in the water.

The Taylor County Coroner’s Office is assisting with the investigation.
