Grayson County Tennis set for 3rd Region tournament on Saturday

The Grayson County High School tennis team will compete in the 3rd Region tennis tournament starting Saturday in Owensboro.

Last season, the Cougar boys came away with the regional championship highlighted by an individual title from then-senior Owen Brown.

Turning the attention towards this coming tournament, the Lady Cougars will have three seeded players in the field.

Ava Walker and Payton Woosley earned the third and fourth seed respectively while the doubles team of Emma Walker and Sami Woosley are slotted as fourth.

“The Lady Cougars earned respect and recognition (with these seeds),” head coach Sherry Vincent said on social media last night.

The first two rounds of the tournament are set for Saturday beginning at 10:00 am with competition also following on Monday and Tuesday.

Miles Mudd vs. Roman St. Clair (Breckinridge County)

Maddox Powell vs. winner of Dunlay/Thompson

Boys Doubles

Brayden Kingrey/Ethan Kingrey vs. Drane/Garrett (Breckinridge County)

Carter Bernard/Jordan Smith vs. Critchelow/Tapp (Breckinridge County)

Girls Singles

Payton Woosley vs. winner of Snider/Browning

Ava Walker vs. winner of Monroe/Martin

Girls Doubles

Neely Hornbeck/Collyns Elmore vs. Shoemaker/Devall (Meade County)

Emma Walker/Sami Woosley vs. winner of Ohio County/Muhlenberg County
