A St. Paul man has been critically injured in a motorcycle accident in Tar Hill.

Grayson County Deputy Sean Fentress and Sgt. Jordan Jones, the East Grayson Fire Department and EMS responded to the crash Saturday afternoon just after noon on St. Paul Road.

Upon arriving at the scene, first responders found that a 2000 Honda motorcycle, being driven by 24-year-old Josh Drake, was traveling west on St. Paul Road when an eastbound 2014 Jeep Patriot, being driven by 34-year-old Charles Fuqua, of Tennessee, was veering “into the Tar Hill gas station and didn’t see the motorcycle,” Fentress said.

“The motorcycle clipped the rim and passenger side of the Jeep,” Fentress said, with the motorcycle “thrown approximately 60 feet.” Drake was then tossed off the bike where he flew about 40 feet into a ditch where he struck a fence post, according to Sheriff Norman Chaffins.

Drake, who police said was not wearing a helmet, was transported to Owensboro Health Twin Lakes Medical Center by EMS before being airlifted to University of Louisville Hospital where he’s listed in critical condition.

Fuqua was uninjured.
