Murder suspect captured after less than 30 hours on the run

A murder suspect on the run since Sunday has been captured.

Kentucky State Police said troopers conducted a welfare check on 43-year-old Joshua L. Dooley, of Mt. Vernon, at approximately 5:25 Sunday evening. Upon arriving at his home on Goochland Cave Road, police found him deceased from “gunshot wounds.”

During the investigation, law enforcement developed a suspect, 49-year-old Clayton D. Cox, of Mt. Vernon, who had fled the scene.

At 9:15 Monday night, state police said Cox had been captured. No other details were released.

The investigation is ongoing and being led by KSP Det. Ryan Loudermilk.
