A Caneyville man has been arrested after a DUI crash left a trail of fluids in the roadway, leading police to his location.

During the early morning hours of Wednesday, the Bowling Green Police Department responded to a hit-and-run crash near the intersection of State Street and 12th Avenue, according to a report by WBKO.com.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered a utility pole had been snapped in half. A witness told police a GMC truck struck the pole and fled the scene. Police, though, observed a trail of fluid on State Street. As officers followed the fluid, they noticed black plastic pieces in the road that appeared to come from a vehicle.

Police then located a black GMC Sierra in a ditch on Eastwood Street with 37-year-old Logan Lehnert inside. Upon police making contact with Lehnert, he had the odor of alcohol and, according to WBKO.com, “was extremely intoxicated.”

He was arrested and charged with DUI, first-degree criminal mischief and leaving the scene of an accident. Lehnert was also served with a warrant from another county.

He was lodged in the Warren County Regional Jail.
