Two Breckinridge County residents, including a juvenile, were seriously injured and one man was killed in a police pursuit.

On Sunday evening at approximately 5:30, Kentucky State Police said a trooper was “conducting speed enforcement” on Joe Prather Highway (Hwy 313) near Flaherty in Meade County when the trooper observed a 2009 Ford Fusion traveling at a high rate of speed. The trooper attempted a traffic stop, but the Ford fled.

The pursuit turned south onto Hwy 333 before entering Breckinridge County. At the intersection of McDonald Lane and Hwy 333, the Ford crossed the center line and into the path of a 2009 Jeep Wrangler, being driven by 40-year-old Jordan Lynch, of Custer.

The driver of the fleeing vehicle, 51-year-old Rodney Richards, of Radcliff, was pronounced deceased by the Breckinridge County Coroner’s Office.

Lynch was airlifted to University of Louisville Hospital with life-threatening injuries. A 14-year-old passenger in Lynch’s vehicle was airlifted to Norton Children’s Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by KSP’s Critical Incident Response Team.
