A man has been arrested on drug and other charges after failing to stop for a Grayson County Sheriff’s Office deputy.
Thursday night at approximately 11:00, Deputy Andy Cast was on patrol near the intersection of Peonia Road and St. Anthony Road when a Chevrolet truck failed to stop at the stop sign. Cast initiated his lights and sirens but the vehicle failed to stop as it continued traveling east on Peonia Road, according to the arrest citation.
The truck, traveling between 30 and 40 miles per hour, eventually stopped in the 8000 block of Peonia Road after refusing to stop for over two miles.
Cast executed a felony traffic stop, with the driver, 49-year-old Kelvin G. Asher, of Louisville, taken into custody without further incident, the citation states.
During a search of the vehicle, police located methamphetamine.
Asher was charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), second-degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle) and disregarding a stop sign along with several non-moving violations. He was lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.
Grayson County Sgt. Jordan Jones assisted at the scene.
