The Leitchfield police officer accused in January of threatening to kill the mother of his child and her boyfriend has been arrested again.
According to Kentucky State Police Post 16 Public Affairs Officer Corey King, Tycondi “Ty” Whitaker was arrested by the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office on Monday for violating an EPO/DVO.
The arrest, King said, stemmed from an off-duty Kentucky State Trooper familiar with the EPO/DVO observing Whitaker in close proximity to the female who took out the emergency protective order. The trooper notified other law enforcement personnel of the violation. The alleged EPO/DVO violation occurred at an event in Owensboro.
Whitaker, who surrendered to authorities, was released after posting bond, King told K105.
The Leitchfield Police Department, Det. Sgt. Ian Renfrow said, was not involved in either the EPO/DVO violation investigation or arrest.
Whitaker was originally arrested on January 10 and charged with two counts of third-degree terroristic threatening, a class A misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail and a $500 fine. The charges, according to Grayson County Attorney Jeremy Logsdon, were approved by him and “subsequently a district judge,” Logsdon told K105.
“The public records of the Grayson Circuit Clerk contain evidence which includes a recording of Mr. Whitaker stating that he would kill the mother of his child and her boyfriend along with other statements,” Logsdon said in a press release. “This evidence, along with other evidence of escalating aggressive behavior towards the mother of his child, while in uniform, is also contained in the public records of the clerk.”
