The suspect accused of killing a woman and severely injuring two more people with a sword at approximately 7:20 Monday morning on Indian Ridge Road has been apprehended only miles from where the murder and assaults were committed.
George Greer was arrested by Kentucky State Police after Grayson County Jailer Jason Woosley spotted Greer on Hwy 54 around 1:15 Monday afternoon, according to a person with knowledge of the pursuit. Woolsey pursued Greer, who was in a different vehicle than the minivan he fled the murder scene in, to near Edwards Cemetery Road where Greer then exited the vehicle and fled on foot.
Kentucky State Police, which had an aircraft and personnel in the area, captured Greer on Edwards Cemetery Road.
The distance between the scene of the murder and assaults and where Greer was apprehended is about nine miles.
The incident began when the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office and Leitchfield Police Department along with Constable Mark Stanton, the Falls of Rough Fire Department and EMS responded Monday morning at approximately 7:20 to Indian Ridge Road after Greer attacked at least three people with a sword.
Greer fled the area in a blue 2008 Chrysler Town & Country minivan with its rear window busted out. Law enforcement officers in Grayson County scoured the area for the minivan but with no success.
A severely injured female was transported to a hospital by EMS. A critically injured male was airlifted from Rough River Dam State Resort Park to an unknown hospital.
