A 20-year-old western Kentucky man has been accused of killing his mother.

Tyler Prince, of Arlington (Carlisle Co.), was indicted by a Carlisle County Grand Jury on charges of murder and first-degree assault (domestic violence) in the death of his mother, Jessica Gerth.

On January 10, Prince called 911 and reported his mother had “fallen in the home” and needed medical attention, according to Kentucky State Police.

Upon arriving at Mercy Health Paducah, physicians observed multiple injuries to Gerth’s body which appeared to be inconsistent with a fall. Gerth’s injuries, state police said, were so severe that she was transported to a trauma center in Tennessee and listed in critical condition.

Due to the suspicious circumstances, Kentucky State Police was contacted and began investigating the incident. As a result of the investigation, Prince was arrested and charged with first-degree assault (domestic violence) and lodged in the Ballard County Jail.

On Friday, January 12, state police investigators were notified that Gerth’s condition had quickly deteriorated, as she succumbed to her injuries. As a result, Prince was additionally charged with murder (domestic violence).
