Ohio Co. felon wanted in multiple states busted with heroin, meth, firearms

An Ohio County man wanted in multiple states has been arrested after police found several drugs and weapons at a Cromwell residence.

On Tuesday, the Ohio County Sheriff’s Office, Pennyrile Narcotics Task Force and ATF executed a search warrant and discovered handguns, rifles, heroin, methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug trafficking paraphernalia, including digitals scales.

Police arrested 28-year-old Christopher Saunders, of Cromwell, who, according to Sheriff Adam Wright, has warrants out of Indiana, Ohio and Florida.

Saunders was charged with two counts of trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine, heroin) two counts of possession of a controlled substance (heroin, methamphetamine) and possession of a firearm by convicted felon. All the charges are enhanced due to the presence of firearms.

The case against a female at the home, Tamara Coots, will be presented to an Ohio County Grand Jury, Wright said.

According to the sheriff, Saunders has been previously charged with:

  • Possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) in Indiana in June 2023
  • Escape in February 2018; grand theft of a vehicle in March 2020; larceny in both April 2020 and October 2020; and larceny (petty theft) in June 20202, July 2020 and October 2020. All those arrests occurred in Florida.
