The 2023 version of the “Hometown Christmas Parade,” scheduled for tomorrow (December 2, 2023), will not only include a new time the parade steps off, but a new final destination.
The parade will now begin at 4:00 p.m. and depart from the Grayson County Fairgrounds and will terminate at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Leitchfield, just one block north of the public square.
Grayson County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director April Spalding told K105 that there had always been a desire to have a twilight parade, and even thought it had been tried various times over the years, but for several reasons it never quite stuck the way officials hoped.
Spalding said that with a new focus on the marquee event of “Hometown Christmas,” it made sense to begin the parade an hour before “Shop the Square” begins but to end the parade just as it arrives to the square.
“‘Shop The Square’ is a great event that we’re putting all our energy into,” Spalding said. “The festive feelings of the parade just help kick off an evening of great fun and excitement on the square.”
This year’s parade theme is “Songs 0f Christmas” and it begins Saturday, December 2, 2023, at 4:00 p.m. departing from Grayson County Fairgrounds and marching south to West Walnut Street.
