Owensboro Health, Impact 100, and Western Kentucky Regional Blood Center jointly hosted a grand reveal of the $400,000 vehicle made possible through matching $100,000 grant/gifts on 11/14/2023 (today). Tomorrow, November 15th, 2023, OH Twin Lakes will host the new bloodmobile from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Owensboro Health Twin Lakes Medical Center in Leitchfield, KY.
OH Twin Lakes contracted with WKRBC for blood service shortly following its merger with Owensboro Health. WKRBC is a nonprofit community blood center responsible for supplying 10 western Kentucky medical facilities with life-saving blood. WKRBC is the sole supplier of blood products to Owensboro Health, Owensboro Health Twin Lakes, Jennie Stuart Medical Center. Ohio County Hospital, Breckinridge Health, Caldwell Medical Center, Crittenden Healthcare, Air Evac 10, Air Evac 92, and Air Evac 120.
The blood center was founded in 1978 for the sole purpose of creating a reliable supply of voluntarily donated blood products for western Kentucky. Our mission is to recruit, collect, process, test, and distribute voluntarily donated blood. WKRBC is your community blood center, you and the medical facilities we serve can rest assured we answer that call, 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
WKRBC depends on both community and sponsored blood drives from the geographic area it supplies to adequately collect and distribute blood products back to medical facilities within the community. Trust and participation from Grayson County organizations, industries, and residents is crucial to WKRBC succeeding in its promise to sustain the local blood supply.

“This new bloodmobile will allow WKRBC to operate two fixed sites and two bloodmobiles simultaneously. Adequately providing blood supplies for these Western KY medical facilities and their patients is WKRBC’s highest priority. This bloodmobile doubles our capacity to provide donation opportunities.” said WKRBC Director of Communication, Development & Recruitment, Vicki Ellis.
Vicki will be on hand tomorrow from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm at OH Twin Lakes for anyone interested in sponsoring a blood drive or having questions about the bloodmobile or the organization in general.
