A Laurel County woman has perished in a house fire.
Kentucky State Police said troopers responded Monday morning at approximately 1:00 to a structure fire on Terrell Road, about 10 miles south of London.
After the fire was extinguished, firefighters discovered human remains inside the residence. The victim has been identified as 54-year-old Melissa S. Creech, of London, state police said.
Investigators, led by Trooper Steve Walker, continue to work to determine the cause of the blaze. Assisting in the investigation are the Kentucky Fire Marshals Office, the Laurel County Coroner’s Office and multiple “local fire departments.”
