Franklin-Simpson High School and Franklin-Simpson Middle School were placed on lockdown after a man with a gun was observed on campus.

The Franklin Police Department, Simpson County Sheriff’s Office and Kentucky State Police responded to the campus after a Hispanic male was seen with a gun outside the high school.

The suspect, a juvenile, was located near the school and was in possession of a weapon. He was detained without incident.

He was charged with possession of a weapon on school property, third-degree criminal trespassing and possession of marijuana. The juvenile was given a citation and released to his parents.

School officials told WBKO that the juvenile did not enter either school.
