A Barren County woman accused of killing her ailing father has been ordered back to jail after allegedly failing a drug test.

A Barren County Grand Jury in January indicted 71-year-old Donna Cheryl Logsdon and her daughter, 46-year-old Cheryl Leighanne Bennett, both of Glasgow, in the death of 75-year-old Michael O. Logsdon, also of Glasgow.

Bennett was released on bond in January — she was initially arrested in November 2022 — after her bond was lowered. She, though, tested positive for methamphetamine in April and again this month tested positive for the drug, violating her conditions of release. She was ordered to serve 30 days in jail after the first positive drug test in April.

Michael Logsdon was Donna Logsdon’s husband and Cheryl Bennett’s father. He suffered from myotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), “a progressive nervous system disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, causing loss of muscle control,” according to the Mayo Clinic.

The indictment states that in July 2022, Logsdon and Bennett committed the offense of murder “when one or both killed a Glasgow man by turning off his BIPAP machine, which he needed to breathe.”

Donna Logsdon is out on bond.

The Glasgow Police Department investigated the case. The Kentucky Attorney General’s Office of Special Prosecutions presented the case to the Barren County Grand Jury on behalf of the commonwealth.
