Grayson County Fiscal Court on Thursday approved the purchase of an electronic medical records system for the Grayson County Detention Center.

Jailer Jason Woosley said one bid for the system was received. The bid, from Corectec, a company based in Paducah, was for $58,300 for remote implementation of the records system, and $67,800 for on-site implementation and training.

The court voted unanimously to approve the purchase, which will be made with detention center funds, of the on-site implementation and training program at a cost of $67,800.

The court also agreed to pay-off a property purchased nearly 20 years ago.

The property, now known at Logsdon Valley Park, located below the Grayson County Judicial Center, was purchased in 2004. The balance on the property, Judge-Executive Kevin Henderson said, is “just short of $90,000.”

Funds from the recent sale of the old Grayson County Sheriff’s Office, which was sold for $370,070, will be used to pay-off the debt.

In an update on the longtime and ongoing issue of the Edmonson County Water District (ECWD) failing to provide a few thousand Grayson County customers with water on a regular basis, Henderson said the ECWD has opted to borrow money to install an eight-inch water line from Bear Creek to Smitty City and connect the line to the Grayson County Water District line. That action will allow water to be pumped to the Wax and Peonia areas of the county.

Magistrate Brian Ashley noted that ECWD officials are still trying to obtain a loan, which will also allow the ECWD to construct a new pump station.
