A man is dead following an officer-involved shooting in Allen County.

Kentucky State Police said deputies in Simpson County became involved in a vehicle pursuit Saturday where the suspect, 37-year-old Jeremy Rollenhagen, fled into Allen County.

Though state police released scant details on the pursuit, the shooting occurred at 5:10 Saturday afternoon on New Buck Creek Road, about five miles southwest of Scottsville.

Rollenhagen was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Allen County Coroner’s Office. A Simpson County deputy sustained life-threatening injuries, according to Kentucky State Police, and was listed in stable condition Sunday morning.

The identity of the deputy has not been released.

Simpson County Judge-Executive Mason Barnes wrote on social media Saturday night that, “Beginning early this (Saturday) morning law enforcement officers were in pursuit of an individual who allegedly kidnapped a lady in Bowling Green. The pursuit went through Simpson County into Allen County. The person being pursued fired shots at officers, but has been located and the pursuit is over. Unfortunately one of our Simpson County Deputies was injured. He is stable and being treated at a hospital.”

The Kentucky State Police Critical Incident Response Team is investigating the shooting.
