At Monday night’s Leitchfield City Council meeting, the council agreed to allow Mayor Harold Miller to submit an offer on a property the city wishes to purchase.

Rezoning request

The council heard the second and final reading of a rezoning request for the property at 0 Central Avenue. The property owner is requesting the property be amended from R-2 (single-family, medium density) and R-5 (multi-family) to R-2A (single-family, high density).

The Planning Commission approved the request for the zoning change after a public hearing on the matter. The city council, in a unanimous vote, approved the zoning change.

Executive Session

The council entered an Executive Session to discuss a possible land purchase.

Upon the council emerging from the 32-minute session, City Attorney Earlene Wilson said: “We had some discussions and I think we’re going to go ahead and take the action to ask for a motion to enter an offer to purchase some land for a potential project.”

The motion to allow Miller to move forward with an offer for the land was unanimously approved.
