An escaped Logan County state inmate convicted of heroin trafficking in northern Kentucky could travel through the area if he decides to attempt to return home.

Clevon Stephens, 52, of Cincinnati, Ohio, walked away from work release at the Logan County Animal Shelter on Tuesday, according to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office.

Stephens was convicted in Kenton County in March 2014 for trafficking in a controlled substance (heroin), possession of a controlled substance (cocaine), tampering with a prisoner monitoring device, and second-degree persistent felony offender, according to the Kentucky Department of Corrections.

Stephens stands five feet, six inches tall and weighs around 170 pounds. He was last seen on surveillance video walking north near railroad tracks wearing black clothing. He could be in possession of a green Logan Co. Detention Center shirt.

Stephens has a shaved head and a scar on his forehead.

Police said Stephens should be considered “dangerous” and should not be approached.

His next parole eligibility date is August 2024. He was lodged in the Logan County Detention Center as a state inmate on January 17, 2023.

Anyone with information on Stephens’ location is asked to contact Logan Co. Central Dispatch at 270-726-2244 or your local law enforcement.
