A two-year-old boy has died in Laurel County after accidentally shooting himself only two weeks after a 12-year-old Laurel County boy was killed after being shot in the stomach.

The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office said deputies, the London Police Department and Kentucky State Police responded to the incident Wednesday evening at 8:49 at a residence in “southwestern Laurel County.”

Responding officers performed first aid on the child until EMS arrived, at which time the child was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased, police said. The preliminary investigation indicates the child accidentally shot himself with a pistol.

Investigation is ongoing and being led by the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office.

This accidental shooting comes only two weeks after 12-year-old Malachi H. Moses was shot and killed at a residence about three miles south of London.

“Investigators report that apparently a weapon discharged in the bedroom of a residence … striking a 12-year-old Laurel County boy in the stomach,” Laurel County Sheriff John Root said.
