A man caused Baptist Health Hardin in Elizabethtown to go on lockdown Tuesday afternoon.

Elizabethtown Police Department Public Affairs Officer Chris Denham said: “Shortly before 4 o’clock this afternoon we were called to the area of Baptist Health Hardin, in reference to a potentially suicidal and homicidal adult male.”

Denham said hospital staff, out of an abundance of caution, “immediately implemented their lockdown procedures.”

Officers quickly arrived on the scene and made contact with the person in question and determined “he was unarmed, and at no time did he present a threat to any staff member or patient,” Denham stated.

The adult male, Denham said, was determined to be of diminished capacity. He was evaluated and stabilized.
