A Grayson County juvenile accused of stabbing his step-father to death will be tried as an adult.
Ethen McKinney, 16, was 15-years-old when he fatally stabbed 38-year-old Timothy Higdon at their residence on Bradley Bend Road in January.
McKinney was indicted on a murder charge by a Grayson County Grand Jury. McKinney was initially charged with murder, first-degree assault and tampering with physical evidence.
The incident took place Monday night, January 30, at approximately 6:40 when Grayson County deputies and EMS responded to Bradley Bend Road on the report of a stabbing. Upon arriving at the scene, police found Higdon lying on the floor bleeding from his torso, Sheriff Norman Chaffins said.
The victim was transported to Owensboro Health Twin Lakes Medical Center by EMS where he was stabilized before being transported to University of Louisville Hospital, also by EMS. He was pronounced deceased at UofL Hospital later that evening.
McKinney is being held in the Warren County Juvenile Detention Center in Bowling Green.
