A domestic disturbance led to the police pursuit of a Beaver Dam man which ended in a crash.

Ohio County deputies on Sunday night at approximately 11:20 were dispatched to a physical domestic disturbance on Rochester Road, according to Sheriff Adam Wright. Upon arriving at the scene, police found the male suspect had left in a white pickup truck.

Deputies located the vehicle, being driven by 42-year-old John Anderson, on Hwy 231 and attempted to initiate a traffic stop but Anderson fled “at a high rate of speed,” Wright said.

“The suspect drove into a residential driveway before going around into the backyard. The suspect then rammed the cruiser of the … deputy before driving back through the residential properties to an adjacent street,” according to Wright.

Anderson then nearly struck a Beaver Dam Police officer’s cruiser at the intersection of Bruce School Road and Hwy 231.

The pursuit continued onto Rochester Road to Green River “before he slowed down to a very slow speed,” Wright said, as “the suspect attempted to get the sheriff’s deputy to come to the passenger side window.”

The deputy, though, remained a safe distance away from the vehicle before Anderson again fled by “doing a U-turn in a beanfield, before heading back toward Beaver Dam.”

Beaver Dam police and deputies attempted to deploy spike strips, but with no success. During the deployment of the spike strips, Anderson, according to Wright, “attempted to hit a sheriff’s deputy” before leaving the roadway and overturning.

Anderson was transported to an unidentified medical facility for treatment of his injuries.

During a search of the vehicle, police located a shotgun.

Multiple charges are pending, Wright said.
