The Grayson County Fiscal Court is approving the purchase of two new ambulances.
In June, the court opened multiple bids for the vehicles. EMS Director Kevin Pharis, who was in attendance, requested to take some time to look deeper into each proposal to see which would be the best for the county.
Judge-Executive Kevin Henderson said that Pharis recommended that they accept the bid from PenCare Medical Supplies for $258,000. It would be available to be delivered in 24 months.
That price is locked in for the whole ambulance except for the chassis. Both of the bids submitted said that they wanted to keep that aspect open due to the potential of Ford raising the prices of the new motors.
Of the purchase price, the court voted to immediately purchase the stretchers for the ambulance ahead of time for $44,563.80. That total is included in the total cost of each ambulance. They moved forward early as it is expected that the cost of the equipment will rise after August 31.
The court unanimously approved the purchase of two vehicles to add to the fleet.
Sheriff’s Office to sell surplus items
Additionally, Grayson County Sheriff Norman Chaffins requested the ability to declare some items as surplus.
“We worked a burglary several years ago,” Chaffins said. “We put an ad in the paper for people to come to pick up their stuff (but this is what was left).”
The items that will be added to GovDeals included fishing poles, batteries, boating equipment, life jackets, and “Christmas stuff.”
