Central Ky. man accused of providing teen with drug containing fentanyl, resulting in teen’s death

A central Kentucky man has been charged after providing a narcotic containing fentanyl to a teenager which resulted in an overdose death.

The Danville Police Department arrested 22-year-old Akili O. Simpson, of Danville, after he was indicted by a Boyle County Grand Jury for distribution of 40 or more grams of a substance containing a detectable amount of fentanyl, distribution of a substance containing a detectable amount of fentanyl which resulted in an overdose death, and three counts of distribution of a substance containing a detectable amount of fentanyl.

After a lengthy investigation, Simpson was found to have provided a 17-year-old girl with a narcotic that contained fentanyl, according to media reports. The girl later suffered a fatal overdose.

He was lodged in the Fayette County Detention Center.
