A Bullitt County man is facing manslaughter and drug trafficking charges following the fentanyl overdose death of his one-year-old daughter.

On April 6, Mt. Washington police responded to Beachwood Lane on the report of an unresponsive child. Upon arriving at the home, officers found 35-year-old Christopher VanMeter, his unresponsive daughter, Kamrynn F. VanMeter, and several other people inside the residence.

Kamrynn was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced deceased. Her toxicology report, according to WAVE.com, indicated she died from fentanyl poisoning. Police believe she ingested the drug after finding it in the home.

VanMeter was charged with second-degree manslaughter, two counts of trafficking in a controlled substance (fentanyl, methamphetamine) and two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment. He is being held in the Bullitt County Detention Center on a $500,000 cash bond.
