An inmate who walked away from a work detail in LaRue County in February has been captured in Breckinridge County.
The LaRue County Sheriff’s Office said 34-year-old Troy D. Hammons, of Munfordville, was captured Saturday “hiding in a remote area of Breckinridge County” by the Breckinridge County Sheriff’s Office, Kentucky State Police and Fish and Wildlife personnel.
Hammons, a felon, walked away from a work detail near the LaRue County Board of Education in late February.
He was originally jailed in LaRue County in November 2022 on a probation violation, according to online records.
The suspect was lodged in the LaRue County Detention Center where he’s been additionally charged with second-degree escape.
