A death investigation is underway in Daviess County.
The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office said deputies, Kentucky State Police and the Owensboro Police Department were dispatched to a shooting Wednesday afternoon at 12:30 on Willett Road, which borders and traverses Ben Hawes State Park.
Upon arriving at the scene, police found a female suffering from a gunshot wound. She was transported to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital where she was pronounced deceased.
The name of the victim has not been released.
The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division is leading the death investigation.
Anyone who may have been in the area near the time of the shooting, or anyone who has information regarding the incident, is asked to contact the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office at 270-685-8444.
