A man has been arrested for shooting at a northeastern Kentucky police officer.

The shooting occurred Monday afternoon at approximately 3:15 in a parking lot off Scott Street in Olive Hill in Carter County. Kentucky State Police said the shot came from a wooded area.

Initially, state police said the officer had been shot in the arm. But late Monday night, authorities revised the statement to indicate the officer was hit by flying glass when the passenger window was splintered by the shot.

The officer was airlifted to St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, West Virginia, with non-life threatening injuries.

Several hours after the incident, state police released a photo of the vehicle involved in the shooting, a white Pontiac Torrant bearing a Kentucky license plate. Then, at approximately 1:30 Tuesday morning, police arrested the unidentified suspect in bordering Lewis County.

WSAZ.com was the first news outlet to report that a suspect had been arrested.
