In early March, when asked about the upcoming season, Grayson County tennis head coach Sherry Vincent used two words to describe it; “Unfinished business.”

The Cougar boys tennis team had come up short the previous two seasons including a region runner-up title last year.

On Wednesday evening, the unfinished business became a reality as the Cougars won the 3rd Region championship in Owensboro.

Owen Brown won his first regional title to pace the Grayson County boys. The senior finished as the runner-up each of the last two years.

The doubles team of Griffin Powell and Lucas Pierce were the region runner-up in their first year as a combo.

Additionally, Brown was recognized as the 3rd Region Sportsman of the Year; a prestigious honor given out to only one athlete in the area each season.

The team will return to Leitchfield on Wednesday evening via a police escort before turning their attention toward the KHSAA state championship that runs from May 30-June 1 in Lexington.
