A Grayson County school bus was involved in a five-vehicle accident Monday morning.
Monday morning at approximately 7:45, Leitchfield Police Department Det. Ian Renfrow, Sgt. Keith Harrell and Officer Todd Oller, Grayson County Schools Transportation Director Braxton Allen, the Leitchfield Fire Department and EMS responded to the crash in the 1300 block of Beaver Dam Road.
Upon arriving at the scene, first responders found that a westbound vehicle had stopped to turn left into a driveway when a Grayson County school bus failed to see the slowing/stopped traffic and crashed into the back of a Nissan Pathfinder, setting off a chain reaction.
The driver of the Nissan and her juvenile daughter were transported to Owensboro Health Twin Lakes Medical Center by EMS with non-life threatening injuries.
None of the 22 students on the bus or the driver were injured. At least one high school student was in an involved vehicle, but she suffered no injuries.
Other than the school bus and Pathfinder, a Honda Civic, Toyota SUV and Chevrolet passenger car were involved in the accident. Three of the four vehicles, along with the school bus, were able to be driven from the scene.
