During a search of the suspect, police located a handgun in Hackney’s backpack as well as 2.5 ounces (70 grams) of methamphetamine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and a large amount of cash, police said.

Hackney was arrested and charged with trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine), receiving stolen property (over $1,000, less than $10,000), possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. The charges are enhanced by the presence of the firearm.

He was lodge in the Ohio County Detention Center but is no longer listed as an inmate.

On March 12, Hackney was arrested on drug and other charges after being found passed out in a vehicle.

Sunday morning, March 12 at approximately 7:30, the Ohio County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint about a person passed out in a vehicle at the Fastway gas station in Centertown, Sheriff Adam Wright said.

Upon arriving at the scene, deputies and Kentucky State Police observed a methamphetamine pipe containing the drug and marijuana in plain view near the vehicle’s shifter. Police made contact with Hackney and placed him under arrest.

During a search of the vehicle, police located a 9mm handgun, a large quantity of cash, marijuana, scales, and other drug paraphernalia, Wright said.

Hackney was charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), trafficking in marijuana, DUI (controlled substance), possession of drug paraphernalia, and failure to wear a seat belt along with non-moving violations.
