A retired Kentucky State Police trooper has died in an eastern Kentucky house fire.
K105 reported Thursday morning that an unidentified male perished in a residential fire on Johns Road in Pine Knot in McCreary County on Wednesday.
The remains were sent to the state Medical Examiner’s Office where the body was identified as 57-year-old Phillip A. Hayes, of Pine Knot, according to Kentucky State Police.
Hayes retired from KSP Post 11 in London in 2013.
It’s unclear how the fire began.
Kentucky State Police detectives are leading the investigation.
