A wanted Leitchfield felon has been arrested after running from a Grayson County deputy and Leitchfield Police Department officer in Clarkson.

Thursday morning at approximately 2:15, Grayson County Deputy Caleb Owens was dispatched to the 100 block of Renfro Street in Clarkson on the report of a suspicious male near an apartment complex. LPD Officer Taylor Wright responded to the scene to assist Owens.

Upon arriving at Renfro Street, police made contact with 39-year-old Shawn D. Clark, who ran from officers. After a nearly 100 yard chase, Owens and Wright caught Clark in the 100 block of Millerstown Street.

Clark, who was wanted on warrants charging him with burglary, possession of burglary tools and persistent felony offender, was arrested and charged with fleeing or evading police (on foot).

He was lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.

Clark, according to the Kentucky Department of Corrections, was convicted in 2015 for trafficking in a controlled substance, trafficking in a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school and theft by unlawful taking.

Clark was arrested in June 2022 by Leitchfield Officer Eugene Cain, Sgt. Keith Harrell and Grayson County Sgt. Erik Franklin after a warrant was issued charging him with felony strangulation, first-degree burglary and fourth-degree assault. The charges stemmed from an altercation Clark had with a man at a Leitchfield residence.

Additionally, in December 2020, Clark was arrested by the Greater Hardin County Narcotics Task Force and charged with trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine), trafficking in a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school (Clarkson Elem. School) and possession of drug paraphernalia.
