Kentucky State Police is conducting a murder investigation after a man was found shot following a fire.
Troopers responded Thursday night at approximately 11:00 to a residence in the 1800 block of Horn Branch Road in the Woollum community of Knox County.
Police were notified after 64-year-old Ricky Campbell was found inside his burned home suffering from a fatal gunshot wound.
The investigation led troopers to 42-year-old Harvey Hood, who lives only a half-mile from the site of the murder. Hood had severe burns and was airlifted to University of Louisville Hospital for treatment.
He was charged with murder, first-degree arson, auto theft, and two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Once released from the hospital, Hood will be lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
