A Grayson County juvenile has been charged with murder following the stabbing of his stepfather.

Monday night at approximately 6:40, Grayson County Deputies Wally Ritter and Justin Cockerel and EMS were dispatched to Bradley Bend Road after a 15-year-old male stabbed a man in the back with what was described as a large knife.

In a release, Sheriff Norman Chaffins says, “deputies discovered 38-year-old Timothy J. Higdon laying on the floor bleeding from his torso.”

Higdon was transported to Owensboro Health Twin Lakes Medical Center by EMS where he was stabilized before being transported to University of Louisville Hospital, also by EMS. He was pronounced deceased at the hospital late Monday night.

The juvenile was initially charged with attempted murder (domestic violence), first-degree assault, and tampering with physical evidence. However, the attempted murder charge was amended to murder after Higdon died from his injuries.

The juvenile was transported to the Warren Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Bowling Green.

The incident remains under investigation.
