
An Oldham County man who tried to meet a child for sex is facing over 100 child pornography distribution and possession charges.
Tyler L. Josephs, 25, of Crestwood, was arrested by the Oldham County Sheriff’s Office following an investigation by the FBI and Oldham County Police Department, according to a report by WDRB.com.
The investigation began in mid-August 2022 when an undercover FBI agent placed an ad on the online chat site Omegle intimating that he had a seven-year-old daughter. Josephs contacted the undercover agent using Kik and requested nude images of the fictitious girl. He also asked to meet the girl to have sex.
Josephs is additionally accused of sending the FBI agent a child porn video.
The FBI and local law enforcement executed a search warrant at Josephs’ home in early September. While being interviewed by police, Josephs said he had “an interest” in teenage girls. He additionally admitted to having approximately 100 nude images of “younger females” on his cell phone, according to the Louisville television station.
Josephs was arrested on Monday and charged with distribution of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor, 100 counts of possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor (under the age of 12; older than 12 but younger than 18), use of a minor under the age of 16 in a sex performance, unlawful transaction with a minor (illegal sex act with victim younger than 16), and procuring or promoting the use of a minor in a sex performance.
He’s being held in the Oldham County Detention Center on six bonds totaling $90,000.
