Wax Road was blocked Tuesday afternoon after a tractor-trailer flipped on the roadway.

Tuesday afternoon at approximately 11:45, Grayson County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Clay Boone and the Wax Fire Department responded to the accident at the intersection of Lone Oak Road and Wax Road. Upon arriving at the scene, first responders found that a Western Express (based out of Nashville, Tennessee) semi carrying a load of lumber had flipped onto its side while attempting a right turn from Lone Oak Road onto Wax Road.

The trailer of the semi slid off the roadway as the turn was being made and went down a small embankment, flipping the truck onto its side.

The driver was unhurt.

Lone Oak Road has a “No Semi Truck” sign near its intersection with Millerstown Road but Boone said semi drivers’ GPS takes them that route, particularly when drivers are going to nearby Precision Truss & Metal on Wheeler Road and other businesses in the area.

It took just short of three hours to clear the truck from the scene and reopen the roadway to normal traffic flow.
