Two Caneyville women, one with ties to the 2019 shooting death of a Caneyville man, and both felons, have been arrested after police located a large amount of methamphetamine and a shotgun while executing a search warrant.
Friday night at approximately 11:30, Grayson County Deputies Sean Fentress and Tim Jackson arrived at a residence in the 6200 block of Rabbit Flat Road to serve the warrant. Upon arriving at the home, deputies made contact with the occupants, 44-year-old Mandy Decker and 35-year-old Samantha Haynes.
During a search of the property, police found over 10 grams of methamphetamine “in separate baggies for distribution,” according to the arrest citation. Deputies also discovered “marijuana in separate baggies, multiple glass smoking pipes … (and) a 12 gauge shotgun.”
During a search of Haynes, police located methamphetamine and marijuana in her pocket.
Both women were charged with trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), trafficking in marijuana, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of drug paraphernalia. The charges are enhanced due to the presence of a firearm.
Decker, according to the Kentucky Department of Corrections (KDC), absconded from parole after being granted shock probation and was also served with a failure to appear warrant on drug charges. She is on probation until December 2026.
They were lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center. Haynes is no longer listed as an inmate.
According to the KDC, Decker was convicted of felony offenses in 2020 in Ohio County for bail jumping, tampering with physical evidence, possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), and first-degree wanton endangerment.
In Butler County in 2021, Decker was convicted of trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Adam Lacefield, 34, of Caneyville, was convicted in March 2021 of reckless homicide in Hayes’ death. He is serving a 15-year prison sentence at the Lee Adjustment Center in Beattyville. He is first eligible for parole on January 1, 2025, according to the KDC.
