4 people, including small child, die in 3 weekend house fires

Four people died, including a seven-year-old boy, and several people suffered injuries in three residential fires over the weekend.

The first of the three fires occurred Saturday night at approximately 11:40 on Isom Bradley Road south of Scottsville in Allen County. Perishing in the blaze were 72-year-old Jerry Emmitt and his wife, 73-year-old Ida Emmitt.

On Sunday morning, a Letcher County house fire in Partridge resulted in the death of 39-year-old Dudley D. Boggs. According to Everidge Funeral home, Boggs’ 61-year-old father had just passed away on December 2.

A fire in Clay City, in Powell County, claimed the life of a seven-year-old boy Sunday morning. Three juveniles were transported to the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center while two adults were transported to a local hospital.

The fire was first reported at approximately 11:00 Sunday morning.

Media reports do not indicate how any of the fires began.
