Grayson County High School’s Nicolas Mudd has signed with the University of the Cumberlands’ archery program.

Mudd has been a member of the GCHS archery team since he was a 6th grader.

“I liked the (Cumberlands) the best,” he told K105. “I liked the layout and how the buildings look along with the size (of the school).”

Mudd opened his senior archery season with a 6th place finish in the Butler County Bears Classic earlier this month. Last year, he placed 51st out of over 1,000 archers in the NASP Open/Championship Bullseye competition.

He was joined at the signing ceremony by his parents, Stephen and Jennifer Mudd, sister, Gracie Mudd, and grandmothers’ Tina Riggs and Deborah Mudd.

The University of the Cumberlands coaches Kris Strebeck and Caleb Kirby and Grayson County coach Tim Woosley were also in attendance.

Grayson County has created a pipeline to Williamsburg. Mudd will join former Cougars Mikayla Clemons, Sierra Gray, Micah McDavid and Tyler Woosley in the program.
