A Barren County woman has been accused of killing her sick father.
Cheryl Leighanne Bennett, 45, with addresses in Glasgow and McMinnville, Tennessee, was arrested and charged with killing her father, 75-year-old Michael O. Logsdon, of Glasgow, after a four-and-half-month Glasgow Police Department investigation, according to a report by WCLU.com.
Logsdon had amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), “a progressive nervous system disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, causing loss of muscle control,” according to the Mayo Clinic. ALS is often referred to as Lou Gehrig’s disease, after the Hall of Fame baseball player who was diagnosed with the disease and died at age 37.
Logsdon was found deceased in his home on July 2, 2022. WCLU.com reports that according to the arrest citation, “a device he had used to breathe was linked to certain suspicious activity.”
The autopsy report says Logsdon’s death was a homicide.
Bennett was lodged in the Barren County Detention Center on a $500,000 cash bond.
