One person was injured and guests evacuated after an early morning fire at an Elizabethtown motel.
The Elizabethtown Fire Department responded to the fire at Days Inn at 2008 North Mulberry Street (Hwy 62) Wednesday morning at approximately 4:00, according to multiple media reports.
Fire alarms worked just as they were designed and were “essential in alarming sleeping guests,” Elizabethtown Fire Chief Mark Malone told WAVE3.com.
One person, though, was taken to Baptist Health Hardin after suffering from smoke inhalation.
The fire, news outlets report, began between a bathroom ceiling and the structure’s roof. It’s believed the fire was electrical in nature.
The blaze was brought under control by 7:30 Wednesday morning.
Multiple motel guests were forced to find another place to lodge.
